A Magical Place

called EVERLAND!

Aaron took the day off from work for Emmaline's birthday so we could go to this theme park.  We purchased season passes which was recommended by many because it is a good deal and only 30 minutes away.  It wasn't quite Disneyland, but we sure had fun.  We definitely were the foreigners with our pictures being taken throughout the park, but Molly won them over with her blonde hair and blue eyes.  I can't even remember how many times photos were taken of her.

Aaron always came out unscathed.

She got nailed a few times, but kept going back for more.

New View

We moved out of our Korean apartment last month into an apartment on base.  We are on the 11th floor with more space than any home we've ever lived in, lots of storage space....YIPEE....and a GREAT VIEW!
Korea RARELY has these clear days so enjoy!
I'll have to take a picture on a normal day so you can get the idea of the 'Korea Haze'.

A view out of our balcony.  That road leads to the Main Gate and yes there is a basketball court on top of that parking garage.  We love to play and run up there.

The football field and more apartment buildings.  Most the military personnel are here without their families and so what you see here are just some of the dorms for those members.
And if you look closely you can see an F-16 taking off from the base.

Out the other window is none other than the runway!  We enjoy watching the jets take off.  The kids say it is like having our own personal AIR SHOW.

Here is a closer shot of the runway.  On a more sobering note, you can see the Patriot Missiles pointed towards the north........ 'just in case'.

Malipo Beach

For Memorial Day our husbands had the day off and since it is an American Holiday we knew the beach would be pretty quiet.  A few of us from church packed our stuff up and headed out to play.  A couple people brought their grills and we cooked up some hot dogs, burgers, shish kabobs, pork chops and chicken.  It was quite a feast.
It was in the low 70's that day and a few Korean's came out of some local stores and just stared at all of us and took our pictures.  One of the guys from church speaks Korean and he said they were saying,
"These Americans are so crazy to be at the beach on such a cold day.  What are they doing here?  Look, they even have their swimming suits on."
And we continued to have a few on-lookers throughout the day.  I think it gave both parties a good laugh.  It was a little cool, but the kids didn't seem to mind one bit.  We had a fabulous day, even if we were a little crazy!

Tae Kwon Do

It didn't take us too long after arriving in Korea to sign up Isaac and Molly for Tae Kwon Do.  Most children in Korea take Tae Kwon Do and we had heard great things about it.  The instructor, Master Mun, teaches this class on base to about 40 military children and he is amazing.  While we were in the states Molly told me she missed Master Mun.  They were excited to be back in class.  These pictures are from testing day.

Isaac is on the far left and Molly is 2 down from him waiting to be tested.

Isaac was first up and after he tested and passed, his reward was to break a board.

Molly's turn and she starts out with a bow to show respect for her Mother.

Master Mun showing Molly how to break the board with her fist.

She was so happy once Master Mun put her new yellow stripe belt on that she ran right over to me and gave a big hug.  I was so proud of both of them.
