that was so crazy....and I mean stressful crazy that it takes a while for it to really soak in what all had happened. Well......such was my experience in having my fourth child. I am not going to even attempt in writing down all the details on this blog. I'll save that for a journal entry when I have some extra time, because it will take several hours.
My last entry was two months ago and I was in Seoul waiting to have my baby. There were some conflicts happening betwewen North and South Korea on the very day I went in to be induced. It was all over in the news and I knew that I was being blessed to not think about it and to just focus on getting my baby here.
I had been laboring for quite a few days, which had never happened in my previous pregnancies. I was having contractions about every 3-5 minuts ALL day long for about 5 days. The contractions weren't strong enough to go to the hospital, but they definitely were consistent and wearing me out since they were keeping me up at night. My body was tired, but my spirit was strong.
Here I am in the hospital parking lot in front of our EXTREMELY dirty van that had been driven back and forth from Osan to Seoul several times by Aaron for different reasons, again too many details to include, but let's just say that those trips also involved some stress. I wanted a picture of this moment, because it was a symbol of what our life was like during this time. Aaron likes to have the car spotless and it has always been that way whenever we bring home a new baby, but alas circumstances did not allow time for a clean car.
They started me on pitocin and a few hours later our little one arrived. There were a couple of names we had decided on, but I looked over at Aaron and said, "So what will her name be?"
"Juliet Loriane", he said
I had a few sweet minutes to enjoy our little Juliet on that 21st day of December until....
a spinal headache hit with full force. I don't think I have ever experienced that type of intense pain.....and I had just been through labor. Aaron had to be full time Daddy through the night as I needed to lay perfectly still for a blood patch to work.
We stayed in the hospital for two nights and I started to feel better. I was able to go home with little pain. It was so sweet to see Aaron bundle her up for the cold air outside. She was so tiny in that car seat.
We returned home and the pain came back. For the next 8 days I was pretty much out of comission. My Mom or Aaron would only bring Juliet to me or I would come out of my bedroom so that she could be fed. I had a little relief on Christmas Eve and it was so nice. Now that it is all over, I can......well......I am just so glad that it is all over. I am grateful to have our little Juliet and that she is healthy and strong. She has blessed all of our lives.
Here are a few photos from the first month of her life.
